So however many months since my class with the inspiring Donna Downey in the glorious mess that is mixed media, I’ve finally made my first solo foray into mixing it up!
I was having one of those nights where I didn’t know what to do with myself – watch tv? Read a book? Go to bed ridiculously early? All good ideas, but I thought I’d just sit down at my desk and see what I could do.
Taking inspiration from the many photos of Paris adorning my walls, plus the fact that it’s 6 years ago this week that my gorgeous husband proposed to me in Paris, I thought I’d try for a French theme.
I started with a rough sketch of the iconic Eiffel Tower with my charcoal pencil and added the title -drawing isn’t my strong suit but I’m pretty happy with what I managed!
I then added in the colours of the French flag with oil pastels, which I then wiped down with a baby wipe to soften the effect and filled in the drawings with a paint brush and silver Viva Metallics (love love love these!).
To finish I randomly stamped a kaiserCraft leafy stamp in London Fog around the edges and drew in the border with charcoal.
Not bad for a first go, even if I do say so myself!
