Travel journal

I’ve had two big scrapbooking weekends in a row at varying levels of success.

First, I headed up to HobbySew in Echuca for two classes with Limor Webber – a bunch of mixed media layouts and a two-hour drawing class. Hmmm… so I don’t think I’m a mixed media girl. I just don’t think it’s my style… I like playing with inks and sprays and stuff, but I like playing with paper and embellishments more…  and drawing…. well… I was better at it after the class, but I don’t think I’ll be troubling the great artists anytime soon!

Then last weekend I went to the Dragonfly Scrapbooking Retreat in Lancefield with my mum, sister-in-law and a fantastic bunch of ladies, it’s always such a great weekend. I wasn’t my usual hyper-productive self, I was a bit out of sorts but I did manage to get a lot of stuff done, which will be going up over the next few days… prepare yourself for an onslaught of travel pages and cats!!

Travel Journal 100CANON

Materials: Typo binder, KaiserCraft Timeless paper and lace andPrima flowers

When we go away on a big trip, I always keep a journal of our travels – it’s always slightly over-detailed, more than a bit obsessive and no doubt as boring as hell if anyone else was to read it, but I love being able to read over it after we get home and re-live our adventures.

This time, my journal ended up being over 100 typed A4 pages long and the thought of hand binding it was just too much, so I bought a cool binder from Typo, printed out my journal on some kraft paper and got started on the fun bit – decorating! I’ve left plenty of blank pages for photos and bits and pieces that I collected – coasters, brochures, tickets… I think I have a problem 🙂
